On March 14, 2023, the Firm obtained a complete summary judgment victory against the plaintiff in a contentious real estate dispute. The plaintiff sought to gain title to our client’s property in the Houston area by claiming that the parties entered into an oral agreement and formed a partnership over a decade ago with the intent of purchasing the property as an investment. The plaintiff asserted several claims including breach of contract and fraud. After the close of discovery, the Firm brought a traditional and no evidence summary judgment motion on the grounds that the plaintiff’s claims were not supported by the evidence and were barred by the statute of frauds and applicable statute of limitations. The court granted the Firm’s motion in full and is entering final judgment against the plaintiff.
